County Walking Weekend

Date: 22nd Apr 2024 Author: districtteam

Dates: 25th-27th October 2024

Time: 17.00 Friday 25th to 17.00 Sunday 27th. However, we may have to vacate the building by 12.00 on the Sunday.

Accommodation: Bron-y-Gader Centre, Conwy Valley, Eryri National Park. https://bron-y-gader.org

Section: All Leaders and Network members (18+)

Cost: £65.00 which includes accommodation and food from Saturday breakfast to Sunday lunch. Excludes transport costs to and from the centre.

Description: Two days walking in beautiful Eryri led by experienced permit holders. This is an opportunity for leaders to walk amongst the most iconic peaks in the National Park and, weather allowing, to climb to the tops.

The weekend is pitched at those who have some hillwalking experience and a medium-to-good level of fitness as we’ll be in the mountains all day.

It is very important that everyone has all the necessary kit for a full day’s walking in the Welsh hills so that we stay safe. No individual kit will be provided.

All attendees can practice their navigation skills and the walk leaders will be happy to help you. If you are working towards a hillwalking leader permit, then coaching is available. If you would like to be assessed for a hillwalking permit, then this is a good opportunity.

We will confirm the routes on the weekend. There will be different options depending on ability and, of course, the weather.

If you require training over the weekend, please fill in the Skills form here.

Application: Please click here to register, places will be confirmed. We are limited to 35 people.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
