Currently all Scouting First response opportunities inside West Mercia are advertised as they become available on the West Mercia Scouts website: https://www.westmerciascouts.org.uk/adult-support/training
To comply with the current First Response requirements both Module 10A (theory) and 10B (practical) must be completed.
The following guidance must be followed based on the training received:
- Scouts First Response events managed in West Mercia Scout County by one or more of our County First Aid Trainers.
- Attendance will be recorded by the leading County First Aid Trainer on the event and passed directly to Margaret Thomason who will arrange for the membership system to be updated as needed.
- First Aid Training completed externally to West Mercia Scout County.
- Scouts / Guides First Response courses 10A&10B – The Certificate or an Email document confirming attendance must be uploaded to the County Website Training Certificate Upload, option = External First Aid.
- Other External First Aid Courses – The Certificate with ideally the course syllabus must be uploaded to the County Website Training Certificate Upload, option = External First Aid.
- Hampshire or equivalent blended module 10A – The Certificate must be uploaded to the County Website Training Certificate Upload, option = Hampshire 10A.
- Members whose employment requires them to undertake medical or first aid activities regularly such as Nurses, Midwives, Police Officers, Medical Practitioners, Members of H.M. Armed Forces, and Ambulance Care – Assistants/Paramedics/Technicians.
- They are still required to provide evidence of an up-to-date qualification which as a minimum meets the First Response criteria, This evidence can be a certificate or an official letter confirming the necessary areas have been met and needs to include a date of any in service training or expiry of registration, details of which should be emailed to: firstresponse@westmerciascouts.org.uk to be passed to a County First Aid Trainer for approval.

Module 10A
To complete 10A separately can be done either:
- Using the County model the three on-line 2 hour trainer led sessions Life Support, Trauma and Injury, and Major Illness when available:
Module 10B
Once 10A is complete 10B can be done:
- At one of the 10B only sessions run at Count Learning and Development Centre.
Blended Model:
- The Hampshire blended option, an approximately 3 hour e-learning self led session and once completed followed by a 2.5 hour Trainer led session, details available at:
Alternatives:
Alternatively 10A and 10B can be jointly achieved either:
- As part of a face to face combined 10A&10B event run in at Count Learning and Development Centre or in one of the Districts.
- By completing a recognised First Aid Training course, the syllabus of which matches or exceeds the Scouting First Response, approval should be checked with your District Commissioner.
